Photos of Bandung North – De’Ranch, Maribaya, and Sapulidi (A Ranch, Waterfalls, and A Restaurant)

Cynthia and her mother underneath a tree at De'Ranch, Bandung North, Indonesia

As you may or may not know, the northern part of Bandung, Indonesia, is beautiful.  Approximately an hour’s drive away from Bandung – the Capital of West Java – it is a place of foliage and waterfalls, ranches for the animals, and restaurants against the backdrop of natural serenity.

I am not going to write too much here and let the photos and the lighthearted captions do the talking.

I had a lot of fun playing around with the photo processing and the Nik Software Color Efex Pro 3.0.  This Nikon software is developed with the professional photographers in mind and I love it.  There are quite a few photos that Cynthia and I both like a lot.  We hope you enjoy our album too and you may wish to visit Bandung North the next time you plan your holiday.

So, tell us, which are your favorite ones, if any?

PS. Photos taken on December 14, 2008.

Yeah the picture with the big tree is beautiful. I like the picture of the huts on the banks of the pond (or lake?), though the boat sticking out in the foreground is slightly distracting.

Love Bandung… wish to go back again.

ECL – Yes, the food is very authentic and yummy. And do visit the north of Bandung the next time you’re there.

And stay tuned for the pictures of the south of Bandung … volcanoes and more!

Eric – Thanks! Adding an artistic touch on the post production work does have risk I reckon. Some heavily edited are liked by some (it does have that dreamy effect for instance) but not preferred by some. I guess some are best in their near-natural form. Some, perhaps can be experimented with a few effects.

Darkspore – Yep. You may wish to visit there again 🙂

    With your wife.

It’s a pond, I think. As for the boat, I did give it some thoughts. Without the foreground subject, the picture seems a bit ordinary, doesn’t quite form a story. What I like about that photo is the water reflection of the boat down to the detail of the rope. You can only see that clearly in large high resolution format within my photography sub-page due to that copyright text size that I have no control in LR2.2.

Limleen – Interestingly that cow picture is one of my favorites because of the strong tonal contrast and I was waiting to see if someone sees what I am seeing. Thanks!

Yes, do pay Bandung a visit. There are lots of factory outlets too. I can pass you the contact of our driver / tour guide 🙂

Hi Wilfrid, very beautiful pix u have there. I’m intending to go Bandung or Puncak this november for a week as my honeymoon getaway. Would you mind to recommend me the best place for honeymooners and the contact details of ur tour guide? Where did u stay by ther way 🙂

Norhalizah – Hi and congraz on your wedding! For a week, you can do a lot. When are you heading for your honeymoon? I still have more photo albums to share.

For a week, you can certainly visit Puncak and the safari. I think you may wish to stay in Bandung. Perhaps pick a hotel of your choice (not sure about your budget but I am sure you can find one within your range).

You can then head to the northern part of Bandung as well as the southern part of Bandung. Those are for the scenic visit of farms and volcanoes. You may also wish to spend some time at the factory outlets in Bandung. They are pretty famous for that if you are into shopping.

As for the driver / guide, you may wish to contact the following person(s).

The driver’s name is Pak (means Mr.) Yana: + 62 813 9467 9892. You can also call his boss Widya: +62 22 7301465 / 7322605. If so, please request for Pak Yana. He is really good.

Also, it is a custom to tip as well as to pay for their meals. Drivers usually prefer to take the cash and eat somewhere else (cheaper).

Hope this helps. Write to me if you need more information. My email address is at “About Me” page. Or you can continue to drop comments here. I will reply to you.

    Hi,
Thanks for sharing all these about Bandung. May i have your driver’s contact? Also, how much does it cost to hire the driver per day?
    Thanks.
