Wilfrid,

yes I do agree to the main differentiating factor being the training beforehand :)

Deborah - But on the other hand, journalists are well trained on the due diligence before publishing an article while bloggers are not. That, I think, is a major difference.

Hey!

Probably, amongst all other laws like libel and Official Scerets Act. The article did mention "divulging state secrets" and defining the "limits of public discourse".

You can read up on the ISA if you like :)

Social responsibility, by the term suggests, emcompasses different connontations for each individual. So I guess journlists/ bloggers must be acutely aware of what is published, and to weigh the consequences on the society and economy :)

Deborah - Thanks for dropping by and good to have met you too!

Wow ... scary article. Ha ha ha. I wonder what are the most common reasons for Internet journalists to get jailed. Defamation?

Hi Wilfrid!

Glad to have met you at the event!

Loved your article.

Yes, I can't help but agree more to the fundamentals of journalism and blogging - the passion for observing and sharing through the expression of writing and photography (like yourself).

Speaking of this, internet pervaded the society so much so that internet journalists or bloggers are under the scrutiny of governments worldwide. There has been an article published in My Paper on 9 Nov, 08.

You may wanna check <a href="http://myepaper.mypaper.sg/ebook/web_php/fvbrowserjs.php?urljs=http://myepaper.mypaper.sg/ecreator/sphopf/ep091208emnd_opf_files/ep091208emnd.js&ver=Gen" rel="nofollow">this</a> out.

Interesting to read!

Cheers! :)
